Working at Sonova offers professional and personal growth at every stage of a career. In this installment, Norbert, Patrick and Luna discuss the trajectories of their careers and share what they do to keep on growing.
I began my journey at Phonak in 1986, spearheading the development of ITE products from scratch. My career flourished with my move to Stäfa to establish the Regional Center Central Europe, enabling me to build a diverse team from the ground up. Returning to Germany to work with Unitron and later transitioning to a Product Campaign Manager role, I have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to Sonova. I value the sense of community and the constant opportunities for growth, encouraging younger colleagues to confront challenges with courage and to celebrate their milestones with pride. Even if you might feel overwhelmed by the tasks before you, face them head-on. Overall, I’m very grateful to Sonova that there was always a new opportunity for me. I never ran out of challenges, and I’ve always enjoyed my work – the decades have just flown by!
My career began in the fields of electrical engineering and auditory perception, leading me to roles that bridged clinical science with innovative hearing technology at Advanced Bionics. My journey through various roles within clinical research in Europe and my time spent in California reflect my adaptability and drive for impact. I thrive on interaction, from academic discussions to patient consultations, enriching my understanding and approach in the hearing technology field. My current role means that I spend a lot of time speaking with people outside of Sonova. Being at this interface means it is possible to view the field from different angles and to see the latest developments in the field. Being interested in learning goes hand in hand with career development. I advise my colleagues to continuously enhance their skill sets and remain open to learning, which are crucial for personal development and career satisfaction.
Since joining Sonova, I have rapidly progressed from a supply chain process engineer to the site leader of the Repair and Service Center Europe in Alicante, Spain. My role involves enhancing operational efficiency and fostering team collaboration, ensuring that improvements are both impactful and enduring. I greatly value teamwork with solid communication and being able to use analytical skills to make improvements for the future. There are many things that make me happy at work, but the first and most important is to see positive results achieved as a team. I am grateful to my colleagues who help me to become a little better every day and motivate me to improve myself. The fact that the products that are repaired and produced at the Repair and Service Center Europe helps people to have an easier life is my driving force every day. Knowing that continuously improving generates a direct benefit for customers is truly inspiring.
