Dylan was born in 2014 with bilateral moderate #hearingloss. By the start of 2023, his left ear loss had progressed to profound levels. Our doctor presented us with #cochlearimplants as the most viable way forward to optimise his hearing, and shared several brands and models for our consideration. Researching and navigating the many options led us ultimately to #AdvancedBionics. We were excited to learn that the latest AB Marvel processor was scheduled to be launched just in time for Dylan’s operation window and he would be able to benefit from some major advancement in tech! We noted the significantly smaller size and weight of the processor versus its predecessor. But what really impressed us was the #MarvelCI’s new “Autosense” operating system. It leverages AI technology to automatically adapt the device to different listening environments and situations. Other than the obvious advantages to the dynamic life of an active 10-year-old, we were especially delighted to note that one of the many useful customizations is for music listening. We’d always been concerned about CI’s limitations when it came to music appreciation, so this feature came as a pleasant surprise for our music-loving family. Post-surgery, we were amazed at how quickly Dylan adapted to the AB CI and are indeed thankful for how he is now thriving in the classroom. The TLL (The Listening Lab) team continues to provide us with valuable tips, advice, and encouragement. We even discovered recently that his CI is able to sync with the sound system in some movie theatres!
