"My son did not pay attention to us when we spoke to him and his pediatrician advised us to perform auditory evoked potentials and there we realized that he had profound bilateral hearing loss. They recommended that we implant my son to achieve his verbal language development and we went to a public hospital in Mexico City where they gave us the implant and processor.
At the INER hospital in Mexico City, they recommended that we use Advanced Bionics cochlear implants because they have a pediatric line called Marvel, which would greatly help him achieve language development. Before being implanted, we had provided him with Phonak hearing aids, and the same brand shares technology with AB implants.
Since its activation, we have noticed great progress, such as sound discrimination, and he is aware that the processor is his means of hearing. For us, as parents, it has been a challenge, as it is a technology that involves significant expenses, from acquiring his hearing aids to paying for insurance, but it is totally worth the sacrifice for our baby to achieve his language development." -- @samuel1088
