I was born with profound hearing loss. My journey towards cochlear implants began years after my family was diagnosed with Autosomal Dominant Nonsyndromic Sensorineural Deafness. Challenged by this, I underwent an audiological evaluation after a lapse of three years. The results were stark, revealing a profound hearing loss that made me a prime candidate for cochlear implants. I can teach epoxy classes and hear my students behind me and that NEVER gets old! I am completely a new woman! I am beyond grateful for this medical technology, my doctors, counselors, and my family and friends for their encouragement to take this bold step of faith!
